Recovery operation underway at King John’s House and Museum.

133 items have been taken from fire-damaged King John’s House, as part of a recovery operation led by specialists. With expert guidance from Hampshire Cultural Trust, seven volunteers began the painstaking work of moving, referencing and logging items recovered from the medieval building.

This is the first step in understanding what has survived the effects of the fire, smoke and heat. The next stage is to assess the condition of the recovered items and consider what specific cleaning, care and conservation attention each object might need.
