Join us on Monday 5 May for a FREE event at King John’s House and Museum, to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe during the Second World War. Our ‘Home Front History’ event runs from 10am to 4pm.

Enjoy writer, speaker, performer, and historian Terri Elizabeth Reid MA FRSA in King John’s House and Museum garden, as she transforms herself into a 1940s housewife for the day. Pick up her tips on how to get creative with wartime make-up, some Make-do and Mend advice, and take away real recipes from the era to try at home. Terri’s talks are at Noon and again around 1.30pm.

There will be activities on a Dig for Victory theme for younger kids, a canvas bunting project to participate in, artefacts from the museum on display, and perhaps a little singalong too. Everything’s set to take place in the garden, on its first day open to the public since the fire in February.

Free to attend event, with donations welcome on the day. This community event is kindly supported by a grant from Test Valley Borough Council. Arrangements are weather-dependant. Materials for activities and any seating will be available on a first come-first-served basis.
