Hampshire’s role in the Abolition Movement

Illustrated talk that examines the often-overlooked narratives of Black Heritage in Hampshire, providing a comprehensive exploration of history and representation.

The talk traces the evolution of Black heritage in the region, emphasising the transformative impact of the Windrush movement and analysing how the aftermath of abolition is understood and represented today.

Presented by Lydia Morgan, who has degrees in American Studies with history, Contemporary History and Politics, and Cultural Heritage. Lydia has extensive experience collaborating with heritage institutions. Her research interests include African American heritage and its representation in American society especially within heritage institutions.
